Monday 19th July 2010
(Episode 2866)
Carmel asks Theresa if she’s Calvin’s killer. Jacqui and Mercedes desperately try and cover while Theresa struggles with the accusation. Carmel won’t be deterred and finally gets an answer out of Theresa: Yes. Myra’s in disbelief. Jacqui and Mercedes feign shock. Theresa reveals to Myra how Calvin got her pregnant, as well as Mercedes’ affair with him. Carmel’s disgusted to hear how Calvin wanted her to abort it and how Theresa nearly went through with it. Carmel is furious with her sisters for conspiring like this. Jacqui tries to defend her actions as protecting Theresa, but Carmel won’t hear it. Theresa wants Carmel to turn her in to the police. Myra despairs as it looks like Carmel is prepared to put pregnant Theresa in prison. When the family find out Mercedes means to leave, they accuse her of running away. Mercedes thinks she’s the source of all their troubles and they’re better off without her. Carmel tells the family she’s come to a decision. She’ll keep Theresa’s secret until the baby is born. After that, Carmel wants to put Theresa in prison.
Sasha and Leo try and deal with what’s happened to Lauren. They aren’t sure how to tell her that doctors have found a blood clot in her head. No one can quite believe it when Lauren’s Mum, Val turns up to be by Lauren’s side. She claims to have known Lauren was in pain and that she is there to take her daughter to Spain with her. Carmel arrives at the hospital, fully prepared to tell them about Theresa, but Lauren’s apology for the funeral gives her cause to think. Will Carmel tell the Valentines the whole truth about Calvin and Theresa?
Malachy is packed and ready to leave when Carmel tells him the truth about Calvin’s killer. He’s stunned that Mercedes knew all along and was complicit, how can he be with her now? Carmel turns to Malachy for advice- should she tell the Valentines the truth about Calvin? Mercedes finds her husband and tells him she’s sorry, he deserves better than her- they never should have married. Malachy is glad Mercedes isn’t trying to talk her way out of things for once and invites her to escape to Belfast with him- she has one last chance to make things right. Will Mercedes and Malachy head to Belfast to make their marriage work?
Cheryl’s looking forward to being the new owner of The Dog. She’s trying to get a feel for the place, and reluctantly asks for Jack’s help finding a fusebox. The next thing she knows they’re locked in a cupboard together. When they finally get out they meet ex-footballer Carl Costello. Cheryl introduces herself as the new owner of the place, but Carl corrects her. He’s bought the place already. Carl Costello is the new owner of The Dog.

Jack and Gilly are in awe of Premier League hero Carl but they touch a nerve when they bring up a tabloid scandal. Heidi is suspicious of Cheryl’s flirting with Carl and finds a use for her- she can clean the place up, starting with the bathroom. Cheryl tries to make light, as a lottery winner she didn’t think she’d be on her knees scrubbing, but she wants people to see the money hasn’t changed her. When the job is done, Heidi’s happy to tell Cheryl they’ll have to let her go. Carl knows what this is really about, Heidi still doesn’t trust him. The press have heard about Carl’s arrival at The Dog, but when a face from the past shows up, it’s clear that not everyone is pleased to have The Costello’s around.
Darren enjoys putting Rhys in his place. Rhys has bigger things to worry about, now the Costello’s have arrived, he, Gilly and Duncan will have to find a new home! When Gilly announces he’s going to move in with Steph, Rhys tells Darren him he’s going to have two new flat mates, him and Duncan! Darren tries to put in a good word for Jack with Carl, but when it looks like The Dog’s new owner doesn’t need the help, Darren decides to do something else for his Dad. Jack is incredulous when Darren arrives with a pet for him – Barry the greyhound. Darren couldn’t get Jack The Dog, so he got him a dog instead. But Heidi has seen the benefit of having an old hand like Jack around, he can start as the duty manager whenever he likes. Now what’s Darren going to do with this dog?
Tension builds between Ravi and Jem. Living under the same roof is no easy task. There’s a definite attraction, but can they get round one another’s annoying quirks? Ravi makes a bold pass at Jem, but then walks away without a word. He’s playing her. When he later mocks her martial arts prowess, Ravi ends up in a duel with Jem…will frustration turn into passion?
Jake feels put out about a mystery job offer – is this another one of Loretta’s schemes? He tries to convince Darren and Rhys that Loretta is disturbed, but they don’t believe him. When Loretta denies the whole thing, Jake sounds all the more crazy. Jack finally tells Jake it was Steph who set up the job, not Loretta.

Loretta is defacing photographs of her and Jake. She plants the snaps on Jake and sends herself a mystery text, determined to make it look like Jake is obsessed with her. Loretta then confides in Steph- she’s worried that all is not right with her brother. Steph had hoped Jake was better but when she finds the photos and text message she fears the worst. Jake denies the whole thing, but the more he protests the more it looks like he’s in denial. Is Jake is having another mental breakdown?
Jem confronts her Dad, Carl Costello, about his move to Hollyoaks- why is he following her? Carl assures her it’s a coincidence, he wanted a pub by the river, close to where he grew up. Jem doesn’t believe a word of it. When she later catches Ravi sitting with Eva’s legs on his lap, Jem’s surprised by how jealous she feels. Eva plays Ravi to the tune of £200, supposedly to get her boiler repaired. A bitter Anita decides to land Ravi in it over Jem. Seeing her daughter upset, Eva decides to spend Ravi’s money on a shopping spree to cheer her up. Back at The Dog, Jem is reunited with the rest of her family, half brothers,Riley and Seth and step-mum Heidi. They’re all pleased to see Jem, but Jem makes it clear there won’t be any happy families after what happened with her and Carl.
Zak’s unhappy to catch Michaela perving over a topless Riley. She claims it’s just her inquisitive mind- she is a journalist after all. Michaela wants to know more about the family and their connection to Jem. Riley’s got a natural charm with Michaela which sets Zak on edge. He challenges Riley to a quick game of footie, unaware he’s challenging someone who attends a football academy, Zak gets hustled by Hollyoaks latest hunk.
Darren’s unimpressed with Barry the dog, but Duncan is besotted with the loveable greyhound. Jack pays Darren and Barry a visit. He’s got the dog some healthy food and wants to take him for a walk. Has Darren actually found a way back into Jack’s heart?

Steph is fearful that Jake is having a relapse. She struggles to convince Frankie that Jake has become obsessive about Loretta. When they try and talk to Loretta about it, she plays meek. Steph’s troubled by a bruise on her arm. Is that from Jake grabbing her? Loretta finds Jake, and, now he’s feeling isolated and persecuted, hopes he will come back to her. Jake realises what Loretta’s trying to do and tells Frankie and Steph he’s being set up. They confront him with the defaced photographs Steph found. Jake panics. Loretta’s played this perfectly. His own family think he’s gone mad. Can Jake ever turn this around?
Jem doesn’t want to tell Ravi the truth about Carl. She’s talked into going for a drink at The Dog and it bothers her when Heidi and Carl are friendly towards Ravi. Jem doesn’t want them quizzing him. She makes no effort to hide her animosity towards Carl. She still thinks they moved to Hollyoaks to track her down. Jem’s so convinced, even Heidi starts to have doubts. Has Carl done all this just to find his daughter again?
Anita’s happy she and Eva are becoming firm friends. It doesn’t take long for Ravi to work out they blew his money on clothes. Eva likes winding Jem and Ravi up, and Ravi feels awkward to be caught between the two women. Eva decides not to open up her stall today, she wants to spend more time with Anita but is this all part of a bigger plan? Eva manages to inveigle her way into the Roys’ - what is she up to?
Rhys tries to lay down the law about living in his flat. Darren and Duncan are unimpressed. Duncan gets treated like a slave and Rhys holds the threat of eviction over Darren at all times. Still, Duncan finds a silver lining – walking Barry the Dog gets him loads of attention from the girls.

Jem is still doing her best to avoid Carl. She’ll stop by for coffee with Heidi, but only as long as her Dad is nowhere to be seen. Heidi wants Jem to stay for their traditional Costello dinner, Fajita Friday. During which Heidi tries to impress upon her that Carl is a changed man and this is their new beginning. Carl gets a mysterious text from someone, who is he ignoring? When Carl finally sneaks away from his family to meet an old acquaintance, it’s obvious that Carl is a man with many secrets. Is Carl about to be blackmailed?
Steph and Frankie seek advice on Jake from Nancy. They think they need to hold an intervention, and are shocked when they see Jake kissing Loretta. What’s going on? Later, Frankie and Steph get Loretta alone. They tell her she doesn’t have to go along with Jake if she’s afraid of him. Loretta tries to assure them she knows what she’s doing, but panics when she finds out Nancy has gone to see Jake. When Loretta crashes in on them both, Nancy sees that Jake is the one who looks most afraid. What is Loretta doing to Jake?
Lauren feels suffocated by all Leo and Val’s pampering. Sasha wants rid of Val as soon as possible, she’s not welcome. Lauren tries to make peace by suggesting Val and Lauren go out together. Val helps Sasha get dressed up. While Sasha and Val are out, Lauren gives thought to Val’s offer. Maybe there is a future for her in Spain?
Sexy, busty glamour model Mitzeee makes an entrance. She’s in town to promote a larger at The Loft. Frankie recognises her from a reality TV show and Mitzeee manages to rub Nancy up the wrong way, suggesting she and Frankie are sisters. When she breaks her compact, Mitzeee asks an incredulous Duncan for a favour, can she go and get ready at his? Duncan’s delighted and introduces her to Darren and Rhys, who are busy bickering over a kimono. Heidi’s been stood up by her dancers, she needs two fit young lads at short notice, Darren and Rhys would make perfect replacements. Duncan’s dismayed he can’t go to the club – he’s too young. To make things up to him, Mitzeee plants a kiss on his happy little face. Duncan’s over the moon, and the joke’s on Darren and Rhys, Mitzeee thinks they’re gay!
