Taylor befriends Duncan at school, but is horrified to learn that Duncan clearly has the hots for Gabby! Disgusted at the prospect of his mum being ‘available’ and attractive to his peers, he questions Gabby about their future at Tony’s. Taylor knows there’s something between them and he encourages her to go for it; he likes Tony after all and is wise to the fact that she and Phil are over. Gabby is relieved to hear that Taylor gives his seal of approval, but she’s still concerned about Amber. Prompted by Taylor, Gabby and Tony admit their feelings for each other and decide that while they wait for Amber to come round, they can make a go of things in secret. They move in for a kiss but are disturbed by someone; could it have been Amber? Tony and Gabby are left wondering if their romance is over before it’s even begun.

Brendan is delighted when Carmel agrees to accompany him to an event at the SU bar. Whilst Carmel turns up and waits for Brendan, he meets with an acquaintance to take delivery of a mysterious package. Brendan manages to slip the package into Carmel’s handbag and breathes a sigh of relief when they get through security without being checked. Inside, Brendan sneaks the package out of her bag and heads off to the toilets. Carmel is completely taken by Brendan’s chivalrous ways and doesn’t suspect a thing. Back at Chez Chez, Ste is suspicious about Brendan’s motives and warns Carmel to keep her wits about her. Knowing what he’s up to, Brendan issues Ste a serious threat to watch his step; he has been warned.

Jacqui and Rhys bicker at work, frustrated that their chance of romance has crashed and burned. Cheryl wastes no time in pointing out that it’s clear they fancy each other and she orders them to go on a date together. Jacqui and Rhys vehemently object, but she threatens to sack them if they don’t comply. They decide to try and get one over their boss and agree to just pretend to have gone on a date, but little do they know Ste has overheard their plan and dobs them in to Cheryl. Showing exactly how serious she is, Cheryl books them a table at Il Gnosh; there’s no getting out of it this time! Jacqui and Rhys face the prospect of a date together; could they actually end up enjoying it?

(Episode 2903)

As Gabby fears the worst, Amber reveals to Taylor that she did see her mum and Tony kiss. Taylor tries his best to talk Amber round and implores her to face the reality that it’s over for their parents. As Taylor pleads with Amber to let Gabby find happiness with Tony, it’s clear that she feels far too betrayed to accept this and she confides her woes in Sinead. Amber speculates that Gabby and Tony’s affair has been going on long before the accident and Sinead encourages her to tell her dad everything. Amber decides to test the water at home and surprises Gabby by being friendly. The mother and daughter embrace and all seems well until Tony arrives at the flat unexpectedly. Riled by the obvious affection between her mum and Tony, Amber makes a hasty exit and whips out her phone to call Phil. As a confused Gabby reflects on Amber’s behaviour, Amber meets Phil and spills the beans. Getting the reaction she had hoped for from her dad, Amber lies that something was going on when Gabby was in hospital. Phil is left reeling from the revelation, but is Amber about to land herself in hot water?

When Carmel reports news of last night’s drug dealings at the SU, Brendan feigns shock. In disbelief at Brendan’s antics, Ste determines to find the envelope of money, but Brendan catches him in the act. Ste tries to stand up to him, but Brendan soon puts the fear into him by warning that he’s lost his one and only chance. Meanwhile, Carmel is clearly smitten and when Brendan invites her to accompany him on a business trip to Barcelona, she excitedly accepts. A concerned Ste advises Jacqui to warn Carmel to be careful; what is Carmel letting herself in for this time?

Rhys tries to avoid Jacqui, but it doesn’t take long before they’re at each other’s throats again. They try again to get out of going on the date arranged by Cheryl, but it’s to no avail; Cheryl reminds them that one of them will be out of a job if they don’t play along! When they begrudgingly turn up, they give each other the onceover and are both secretly impressed; maybe this won’t be so bad after all? But when Cheryl announces that she’s coming with them, things look set to be just as awful and as awkward as anticipated. Cheryl sits them down and pleads with them to acknowledge their compatibility as a couple. When Cheryl’s distracted for a moment, Jacqui and Rhys hastily escape and fall about laughing together. As they bond, Jacqui and Rhys agree that they can get along for the sake of an easy life, but are they both in denial about how they really feel?

(Episode 2904)

As an outraged Phil seeks out Gabby and Tony, Amber begins to regret her lies. Gabby is mortified when Phil punches Tony hard in the face and Amber realises that she might be about to be caught out. In retaliation, Tony threatens to spill Phil’s huge secret, which soon stops him in his tracks and peace is restored. Gabby opens up to Phil and tells him the truth about her and Tony, but everyone wants to know why Amber lied about them getting together back in North Wales. Amber flees, but Phil catches up with her and orders her to apologise. Amber is crushed when he tells her that she’s got to go back to Gabby and Tony; she wants things back to how they were and she isn’t going to take this lying down. Amber apologises to Gabby and agrees to get along with Tony, but what is she planning next?

Jacqui warns Carmel that Brendan’s interest in her can’t be all that it seems; he must be after more than just companionship! Carmel is dismissive of Jacqui’s suggestion and praises Brendan’s chivalrous ways. Remembering what Ste told her, Jacqui decides to confront Brendan and asks him about the dubious nature of the Barcelona trip. He manages to reassure her that he only has good intentions towards Carmel, but he smells a rat and knows that Ste has been talking. When Amy turns up at Chez Chez to persuade Ste to take a night off to look after the kids, Brendan pounces. Offering to pay for a babysitter, he invites her round for a drink at the club later. Brendan relishes tormenting Ste and issues a new ultimatum: keep quiet or he’ll enlist Amy to accompany him on one of his dodgy trips…

Jack is taken aback by Darren’s news that he’s enrolled as a student…and he’s moving out! Despite the inevitable teasing, it’s obvious that Frankie is supportive of his new move and is actually quite upset that he’ll be moving out so soon after rejoining the family. Jack finds the time to apologise to Darren for all that went on between them and tells him how much he respects what he’s doing with his life. Darren’s enjoying the heart-to-heart with his dad, but he can’t help notice that Jack’s clearly got something else on his mind. Darren is dumbfounded when Jack drops his bombshell: Neville’s selling the house and they’re going to be homeless.

Brendan’s eyes light up, and it’s not long before he’s secured himself a new travel companion. Knowing he must stop Amy being used as a ‘drugs mule’ by Brendan, Ste appeals for her not to go. She finally agrees he’s right, and rushes off to tell Brendan the good news. Amy is livid when she discovers Ste has scuppered her trip to Barcelona, and he can only watch in despair as an excited Carmel leaves with Brendan - will the trip go to plan or will an unwitting Carmel find herself in trouble?

Meanwhile, oblivious to the financial problems they face, Frankie hunts high and low for a babysitter for Tom. She hits the jackpot when Carmel volunteers Jacqui. Just before they leave, Jack takes Darren to one side telling him that in order to keep the house, he’s going to have to find a £50,000 deposit!
