Monday 18th January 2010
(Episode 4986)

Miles is undecided what to do about Ian’s blackmail attempt. He has a dream about Ollie and Leah being wiped out by a tidal wave. Charlie becomes suspicious of Ian Radcliffe. John Palmer tells Charlie that Ian Radcliffe has been bragging about ripping off Miles. Ian pressures Miles to pay him, but Miles delays. Miles eventually goes and gets some money out of the bank to pay Ian. Leah and Alf admit they are worried about Miles. Gina tells Miles he can attend the year 12 formal as a guest, but this does not make Miles feel that much better.

Leah tries to be encouraging to Miles – later on, so does Charlie, but Miles still feels low. Romeo tells Miles he has to stand up to bullies. Miles eventually offers Ian a proposition – to pay Ian’s rent and give him some odd jobs in exchange for Ian’s silence. Ian knocks this back, but during his response Miles figures out that it was Ian who hurt Riley. Ian denies this and says he intends to talk to the paper.

Xavier apologises to his mother for treating John badly. Gina forgives him provided he apologises to John, which he does. This is seen by Romeo who can’t believe Xavier’s change in attitude. Later on, Romeo warns Gina about John. He also lets slip to Xavier that his mother married someone like John and regretted it, but doesn’t elaborate. Romeo is struggling to find work and it is getting to him. Gina talks to him about it and suggests he go back to school.


Tuesday 19th January 2010
(Episode 4987)

Miles tells Charlie his suspicions about Ian Radcliffe but Charlie says it will be hard to prove his guilt. An article about Miles assaulting Riley runs in the Coastal News; Miles is devastated. Charlie assures Leah that she will follow up Miles’ allegations against Ian. VJ starts to feel guilty and sees Ian giving Riley a serve. He tells Miles and Leah what he saw. Charlie and Miles go around to the Radcliffe house and see Riley with fresh bruises.

Riley admits his dad hurt him and Charlie says she’ll be charging Ian and dropping the charge against Miles. Leah and Colleen are overjoyed, but Miles isn’t – he realises there are no real winners here. He decides not to pursue charges against Riley. The emotion of the day overwhelms Miles and when he sees something about Kirsty at school he loses it. Gina tells Miles to go on stress leave immediately.

Nicole’s reluctance to sleep with Liam is causing problems between them. Nicole doesn’t want to go to the formal, she says Liam isn’t keen. Aden gets up Liam for not taking her to the formal and Liam tells him to stay out of their business. Liam confronts Nicole about this and admits he’s annoyed he can’t have sex with Nicole. He and Nicole argue and Aden comforts Nicole. When Nicole returns to the house Liam tells her he is in love with her. Aden gets a job at The Sands Resort provided he takes the manager’s daughter to the formal. Nicole warns him the girl is very full on.


Wednesday 20th January 2010
(Episode 4988)

Nicole admits that she doesn’t love Liam when she talks to Aden and she’s not sure what she should do; Liam suspects there’s more going on. Nicole decides to go to the formal, taking Miles as her “date”. Stung by Nicole, Liam bumps into Poppie Merrin and agrees to give her a guitar lesson. Aden sees Liam laughing with Poppie. He reminds Liam that he can still go to the formal but Liam tells him to mind his own business. Poppie and Liam have a chat together and Poppie cracks on to Liam.

Aden goes to the formal with his date Catie Merrin. He winds up dancing with Nicole. Aden and Nicole have a shared moment but then Aden has a flashback to dancing with Belle and he takes off. Nicole is about to go after him when she sees that Liam has turned up to the formal. When Liam and Nicole get home Liam sees there is lipstick on a glass left by Poppie and he cleans it – did something go on between them? Nicole tries to talk to Aden but he is standoffish – it seems that he feels as though he has betrayed Belle by his growing feelings for Nicole.

Alf tries to be supportive to Miles but Miles feels terrible – in his mind he’s hit rock bottom. Miles is glum at the Formal but Leah cheers him up.

Martha, Hugo and Bambang are all getting along well together – the business with Suzy seems to be behind them. But Hugo gets a shock when Suzy arrives back and finds him, Suzy says she's changed her mind and wants Hugo to return to Indonesia. Hugo is distressed and Martha picks up on it but doesn’t know why. Bambang can’t find his teddy bear and Hugo goes looking for it. At Jack’s house, Hugo sees a photo of Jack and Martha and this gets him thinking. Back at the farm Martha discovers something in Hugo’s bag – an engagement ring. Is Hugo going to propose to her?


Thursday 21st January 2010
(Episode 4989)

Martha waits excitedly for Hugo to come home, expecting a proposal of marriage. But when he does he is in a bad mood and doesn’t want to talk. The same goes for the following day. Martha tells Rachel she found the ring and can’t wait to marry Hugo. But whenever Martha tries to steer the conversation around to marriage, Hugo avoids it. Eventually Hugo has a heart to heart with Martha – he breaks up with her.

Tony enters the gym the night after the formal to see that his gym has been trashed. It was probably students but they have no idea who did it. Tony reveals that he hasn’t insured the gym. He decides to sell his business. In an effort to find out what happened to Lou, Angelo issues flyers appealing to the public for information. One of them is seen by a mystery man, Orson.

Donna complains to Irene that her gardener, Orson, did no work for her while she was in gaol. Irene arranges for Geoff to help clean up Donna’s place. Geoff is wary of working for Donna but agrees. Geoff and Ruby are frustrated that they haven’t been able to sleep together. Ruby visits Geoff at Donna’s house. They try to have sex but the mood is ruined when Geoff thinks he hears noises outside. Later on, Geoff sees someone lurking around the house and chases them away. Geoff tells Donna, who figures out that the intruder was Orson. Irene encourages her to go to the Police but Donna says she wants to find out what’s going on first.


Friday 22nd January 2010
(Episode 4990)

Martha is staggered with Hugo’s decision to break up with her. She tries to get him to explain what has happened but all he can say is that he can’t commit to her any more. She tells him she found the ring but he says he bought it for Suzy years ago; then he takes his things and heads home. Rachel runs into Hugo and invites him and Martha to dinner; Hugo tells her what happened. Rachel, stunned by the news herself, goes around to console Martha. Neither of them can understand Hugo’s decision. Martha then finds a receipt for the ring that is only a few days old. She confronts Hugo about this – he admits he bought the ring for Martha and was going to propose but he changed his mind. He reiterates that it’s over and leaves.

Donna gets a call from Orson’s wife, Bonita, asking if they can meet, but not to tell the police. Irene goes along for support. Bonita tells her that Orson was paid off by someone he found breaking into the guest house just before the gun was found – Donna was framed. Orson is now in hiding. Donna calls Angelo and Charlie who get a list off Bonita of places Orson might be found. Just as they are about to go looking for him, they see someone on the grounds on the security cameras.

They chase after the person but don’t catch him. Angelo hypothesises the person was Hugo. He wants to get a sample of Hugo’s DNA in order to compare it with the blood on the boat. Charlie thinks Angelo’s obsession with Hugo is ruining his ability to run the case and says they should concentrate on finding the gardener. That night Angelo sees Hugo at the Surf Club. He taunts Hugo and Angelo winds up king hitting Hugo in front of everyone.

Tony tells John that he is going to sell the gym, although it is a wrench for him. John suggests that he buy Tony out, and that they go into partnership together. Tony agrees, although he and Rachel are concerned there will be trouble ahead with this partnership. Xavier is worried about being chased by Rosie. However then he sees Rosie kissing another guy – he’s finally clear of her.
