(Episode 5016)

Still spooked by Rabbit’s warning that he could die, Miles is getting no sleep. Turning up to school on day one sees Miles over tired and barely concentrating. Gina demands he go home to get some rest. Miles can’t sleep and soon comes up with a plan to help - he’ll start by cleaning the caravan park from top to bottom. If he’s exhausted he can fall asleep.

Nicole has paranoia over her decision to repeat year twelve. She mentions to a concerned Aden, she can always drop out if it doesn’t work out for her. And Mink doesn’t help things along when she continues to cause trouble in the Bay including hassling Nicole about her decision to go back to school as a mature age student.

Gina is hoping Mink’s influence isn’t deterring Romeo from considering going back to school. It’s clear that Mink has her issue with school as an institution and when she gets hold of the idea that Romeo is considering going back to school, she is completely flattened. She was hoping instead that he would hang out with her, maybe even be her surfing manager. Romeo weighs up his options, freedom and hanging out with Mink every day or school? Romeo chooses school.

Gina is quick to pick up on Mink’s anti school behaviour. Approaching her Gina wonders what she has against learning. Gina also suggests for Mink to consider going back to school herself. Mink is her usual self – defensive. Mink refers to her past life of crime telling Gina that ex crims don’t go to school. Gina suggests for Mink to leave her past in the past.

(Episode 5017)

Liam is doing his best to impress Martha by picking up her favourite take away for dinner but Martha isn’t overly impressed. Martha sends him a mix of signals as it seems Liam is getting on her nerves one minute and is her best friend the next. When Martha feels like she’s gone too far with her cutting comments, she calls Liam to apologise. Liam accepts although it’s clear he’s been hurt by her recent remarks.

Meanwhile another food order is being delivered from John to Gina while she works late at school. It’s clear he is trying to rekindle their bond. With a seemingly romantic walk along the beach that night, Gina questions John’s motives. John explains that Gina wasn’t herself when Hugo died and he took a step back, but now he’s decided to be honest about his feelings for her.

Romeo struggles with being shut out by Mink for deciding to go back to school. With Mink keeping a low profile for most of the day she finally shows up to meet Romeo after school at the Surf Club. The mood is still awkward between them and is even worse when Mink drops a bombshell in front of Ruby telling her she kissed Xavier a few days back. This leaves Ruby with overwhelming disappointment and the need to quickly bury her feelings for Xavier.

Miles' method of working himself to the ground hasn’t worked. He’s wide awake and out of his mind. Having to face students is proving harder than he thought, as he slowly falls asleep at his desk, not realising that above him is a whirling ceiling fan which is becoming looser by the second. Miles soon wakes up and makes his way to the door when the fan comes crashing down. Miles realises Rabbit was right, if he hadn’t woken up he could have been killed.

Wednesday 3rd March 2010
(Episode 5018)

The Diner is being reopened by Leah, Colleen and Irene when the topic of having an opening night party arises. Leah thinks it wouldn’t be inappropriate to have a party considering the reason the Diner was closed down was due to riots. Irene and Colleen strongly disagree - having a party for them is a sign that everything’s okay and they want to welcome their customers back with a bang. Armed with the news that Leah doesn’t want a party, John Palmer goes around to see her, explaining how bad for business it could be if she doesn’t have an opening night party. Leah has a change of heart, deciding to go ahead with the party. That afternoon, as the crowd at the Diner party swells, Leah finds herself out of breath, having an anxiety attack and unable to control herself. Barricading herself into the storeroom, she sits there quietly trying to breathe and trying not to pass out.

Xavier is fuming at Mink for telling Ruby that Mink and Xavier kissed. He tries to explain to Ruby that Mink kissed him not the other way around. Ruby is quick to acknowledge that she and Xavier aren’t together so she has no right to ask questions. Their friendship is soon back on track when they decide to go to the opening of the Diner together. With Xavier voicing his frustrations at Mink, she is fast realising that she’s gone too far this time and desperately tries to win Xavier’s friendship back with not much luck. When Ruby and Xavier spot Mink at the Diner party they think there’s trouble following but instead she apologises to them both telling them she’s stupid and pointless, leaving Xavier and Ruby concerned for Mink’s state of mind.

After her hot and cold attitude of late, Liam tells Martha he will soon have enough money to rent his own place; if she wants him to move out. She tells Liam he doesn’t have to go anywhere. Liam is grateful for her words but it’s clear he is keeping his emotional distance from her, for now.

Thursday 4th March 2010
(Episode 5019)

In the Diner’s storeroom, Leah is hiding, sweating and shaking. Irene is the first one to approach, having been looking for Leah at the party. But when Leah doesn’t want to come out, Irene realises things are serious and acts quickly, sending all the party goers to the Surf Club to finish the celebration there.

Soon enough Irene, Colleen and Martha are all trying to talk Leah out from inside the storeroom. But with Leah not moving, Martha decides instead to go in there with her. Charlie soon arrives joining Leah and Martha and after chatting with Charlie about what she’s been through in her own life with Grant, Leah decides to surface, slowly coming around to thinking more rationally about her own situation. Leah considers seeing a counsellor as Charlie explains how it helped her - Charlie only wishes she continued seeing someone after what happened with Grant. As Leah considers this, Tony soon comes around offering her an alternative – Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

Angelo is still coming to terms with the fact that Charlie doesn’t want to move in with him. Charlie insists she still wants a relationship with him just that living together may not work right now. Angelo seeks advice from Alf about Charlie while Charlie seeks advice from Leah. Alf tells Angelo perhaps he shouldn’t worry about tomorrow and live more in the moment with Charlie and Angelo is quick to agree.

With momentum, Angelo goes around to see Charlie to tell her what he thinks of the whole situation. Angelo thinks she has a commitment problem and that she inadvertently chooses partners who are temporary and who she doesn’t have to commit to. But now Angelo’s there and he’s permanent and Charlie doesn’t know what to do.

Friday 5th March 2010
(Episode 5020)

Charlie is still getting her head around Angelo’s comments about how she chooses partners who she doesn’t have to commit to. Charlie insists she doesn’t chose her partners based on that, insisting that both Roman and Joey broke up with her. But Angelo is sure there’s a pattern there. Things escalate and Charlie is hurt and upset that Angelo thinks she is a problem to solve. Angelo is quick to apologise and Charlie eventually agrees, she does sabotage her relationships. But she’s not sure she can change either. Charlie makes a decision – they’re breaking up.

Alf tells Miles that Leah is looking for someone to work at the Diner and they’re thinking of offering the job to Aden. Alf doesn’t want Aden to leave the Bait Shop but understands it’s his choice if he wants to leave. Alf approaches Aden, subtly sussing out whether he wants to stay at the Bait Shop. There are mixed messages and Aden takes Alf’s questioning as a sign that Alf doesn’t want him around. When Leah offers Aden a job at the Diner, he jumps at the chance, thinking he’s probably not welcome at the Bait Shop anyway. Alf explains to Aden that there’s been a mix up and he’s loved having him run the place. Aden now faces the dilemma of having two jobs on offer. He settles on doing both jobs part time.

Leah has decided to go ahead with the Jiu-jitsu classes which Tony suggested. When she turns up she sees Elijah Johnson – Summer Bay’s new Reverend, taking the class. Leah watches on as Elijah gives an introductory speech. Soon Leah finds herself in the midst of another panic attack and rushes out of the class. Elijah hurries after her, and seeing Leah is distressed, he offers her private tutorial. In return Leah offers him ten percent off meals at the Diner and Elijah tells her she’s got herself a deal.
