(Episode 5021)
Xavier and Ruby have been spending time together and it’s clear that they are enjoying each other’s company. They are surprised at how easy their first day back at school goes and being with each other helped a lot. Xavier starts to feel like there’s a chance they will become a couple again and is delighted by the prospect. However, Ruby, influenced by the turmoil in Charlie’s love life, inadvertently hurts Xavier by telling him that she never wants to lose his friendship and the best way to ensure that doesn’t happen is to never get romantic with each other. Shattered, Xavier tries to do as she asks, but finds he can only manage that if he keeps his distance from her. Ruby finally realises what he’s doing and finds she doesn’t like not having him around and subsequently changes her mind. She now thinks it’s okay to keep the door open to the possibility of having a relationship with him and Xavier’s spirits soar!
Charlie, having trouble making the commitment to live with Angelo, shocks and hurts him by breaking up with him instead. The break is anything but clean as the two still have to work together. Angelo finds it too hard to deal with and his initial solution is to try and work from home. The plan doesn’t work for long as, in the office to collect some files to take home, Angelo and Charlie, as senior officers on duty, get called out to a fatal road accident. The MVA is a sobering experience for both police officers and it puts some perspective into their own problems. Angelo proposes that they put their efforts into preserving their friendship and is shocked when Charlie wants to do the opposite – she wants no personal contact between them at all.
Tony hasn’t found it easy dealing with John from the moment he decided to sell him a majority share of the Gym, and the relationship seems to be going further downhill. John, it seems, can’t help but put Tony down through a never ending stream of gibes and sarcastic comments. Rachel, concerned that she’s only working part-time and not wishing to be the sole breadwinner, tries to hose Tony down, but she underestimates just how difficult it is for Tony to put up with John. She’s horrified when, in a fit of anger, Tony tells John that he wants out of the Gym and suggests that John buys him out.

(Episode 5022)
While Martha and Liam have been enjoying each other’s company and sharing the Farm House, Liam hasn’t been feeling like he knows where he stands with her, but he hasn’t been pushing things. He’s concerned when Martha turns up for breakfast and declares that she’s feeling sick. Not wanting to make a fuss, Martha decides to go to work anyway, hoping the illness will pass. She manages some of her shift before becoming dizzy and nauseous, and then heads home for some rest and recuperation. Liam gets home as soon as he can, and offers to look after her. Ready, if not particularly able, he even offers to cook dinner. Martha isn’t hungry, even though she’s now feeling somewhat better. She does seem very tense and nervous however, and eventually Liam finds out why – Martha thinks she’s pregnant and Liam’s the unsuspecting and shocked Dad.
Tony has had a gutful of John Palmer’s niggling attitude and on a whim has asked him to buy Tony’s remaining share of the Gym business. Only trouble is, Rachel wasn’t consulted about this massive decision and she isn’t happy. Gina tends to see both sides of the problem and tries to help find a solution. After some cooling off time, Rachel and Tony reach a compromise. Tony can sell the business, but he needs to line up some new work before he does. With Rachel still only working part-time it seems like an ideal compromise. Gina’s heartened that Tony can live with that, and is telling him so when Tony sees John up ahead. He goes to him and tells John he no longer wants to sell out, but as the two start bickering again, John names a figure for the rest of the business and Tony accepts it. The two men shake on the deal. Gina, looking on, is astounded by what’s happened and Rachel can’t believe it either. It seems like there’s some rocky days ahead for this family.
Nicole is back at school for another year and is finding it all much easier to handle than she imagined. The two reasons for that are that she has Aden by her side and that she is able to take a fashion design course that will count towards her HSC. As a result she is studying hard, but there’s a downside – Aden and her don’t seem to be able to spend much time together. Aden tries to rectify that by changing his shifts around, but no matter what he seems to do, Nicole is tied up. Things are made worse when noted fashion designer, Britt Hobart, a favourite of Nicole’s, is slated to visit the school and comment on the design students first projects. Nicole, desperate to impress Britt, throws herself into her first designs – leaving Aden out in the cold.

(Episode 5023)
Liam’s left reeling when Martha tells him she thinks she’s pregnant, but he tries to absorb the news and show concern for Martha. Secretly he’s relieved to learn that she hasn’t done a test yet as it may still be a false alarm. Alf’s concerned about Martha’s illness and has a feeling there’s something else going on with her, but has no idea what. Liam, in the meantime, confides in Romeo – he doesn’t want to be a father again and he’s scared that all this extra pressure will see him drinking again or worse, and he doesn’t want that to happen. Romeo tells Liam that he’s put so much effort into his recovery he mustn’t let that happen. Liam becomes a little agitated when it seems like Martha, who returns to work, is delaying the pregnancy test, but it all works out well when Martha comes home and announces she isn’t pregnant as she’s no longer late.
With the surfing circuit coming up, Mink is hoping to pick up some sponsors and asks Romeo to be her manager. Romeo hates turning her down, but he really doesn’t want to go on the road and he wants to complete his HSC. Even when a potential sponsor sets up a meeting with Mink, Romeo can’t be coaxed into being her manager and Mink’s a bit put out. Romeo’s feeling the pressure building and Mink ups the ante when she reminds her brother that she was the one that did juvenile detention and not him and that she didn’t kill their Dad anymore than Romeo did. She, not he, took the rap for their Mum. Romeo already knew that, but Xavier who’d dropped by to see his friend didn’t, and he’s shocked to hear the news.
Ruby and Xavier are now mostly in the same classes at school and find themselves spending plenty of time together. They both seem to be enjoying each other’s company and Xavier starts to think that maybe they can get back together again. He’s certainly keen. The two flirt gently and Ruby even admits to having been slightly jealous when Mink kissed Xavier recently. After a bit more flirting Xavier decides to take things slowly and do things properly and he works up the courage to ask Ruby out. He’s delighted when she agrees.
Irene suspects that Leah’s developing a crush on her Jiu-jitsu instructor, the Reverend Elijah. Ruby concurs, but Leah won’t own up to it. The others believe that she’s in denial. When Elijah cancels a class with Leah, she’s disappointed and is left wondering if she really does have feelings for Elijah.

(Episode 5024)
Xavier overheard Mink admitting that she never actually killed her dad and that’s turned Mink and Romeo’s worlds upside down. Mink’s shattered, convinced that Xavier is going to blab the news to anyone who’ll listen. Romeo convinces Xavier to keep the secret to and Romeo confides to him that it was actually his mother who hit his step-dad with the cricket bat and he hit his head on a coffee table when he fell, and that killed him. Romeo and Mink knew that their mum wouldn’t cope with jail and that’s when Mink decided to take the rap for her. Xavier can’t believe Mink endured juvenile detention for something she didn’t do. Mink simply can’t cope with Xavier knowing the truth and decides to leave town within the week. Nobody can talk her out of it. The only consolation for Romeo is that he learns that Mink is meeting with a potential sponsor. Romeo hopes that she secures a decent sponsorship and won’t have any financial worries when she’s on the surfing tour.
Mink’s moods are up and down, mostly down, and she turns up at the meeting late and then sabotages it by abusing the potential sponsor. Romeo can’t believe what she did, but Xavier nails the truth when he asks Mink if she did what she did because she doesn’t believe she deserves good things happening to her. He’s shocked by the depth of her self-loathing. Mink does try to smooth things over with Romeo before she leaves and tries to give him an insight into why she is like she is, by telling him a horrifying story about how she nearly died while in juvenile detention. Romeo’s shocked and realises just what a hefty price his sister has paid in trying to protect their mother.
When Elijah had to cancel a one-on-one Jiu-jitsu session with Leah, she found herself disappointed and has started to realise that she may be developing feelings for him. She’s very awkward when Elijah comes in to apologise to her, but agrees to have a coffee and a walk with him. She finds him very kind and patient as he asks her if his classes are helping her get her self confidence back, and he then suggests some practical ways of dealing with her panic attacks. Leah has to take some stick from Miles and Irene who can tell she has feelings for Elijah. She copes, but Miles plants an idea in her mind when he suggests that maybe Elijah has feelings for her too. Leah dismisses the idea, but later, when she’s training with Elijah there’s a moment when they lock eyes and Leah, heart racing, wonders if just maybe there could be something going on with him, but it’s too much for her to deal with and she cuts the session short.
Summer Bay doesn’t see too many graffiti vandals, but all of a sudden there seems to be a splurge of them – or is it just one person? Firstly the caravan park signage is attacked and later the Bait Shop is defaced. And it seems the culprit’s colour of choice is orange, or more correctly amber, as Miles points out. He then suddenly realises he knows someone that fancies that colour – Rabbit. He confronts her about the graffiti, but Rabbit denies she did it. Miles has to accept that for the moment, but his suspicions have now been aroused.

(Episode 5025)
Leah’s conflicted. She had a moment of eye contact with Elijah at her last Jiu-jitsu class that was more than you’d expect from a student/teacher and it’s thrown her. She seeks confidential advice from Irene and then Miles, but no one seems to understand her problem. Leah sees what she feels as being wrong. He’s a teacher and a Reverend – a man of God. She doesn’t believe she should have feelings for him. And she even doubts her own feelings thinking they may be stemming from gratitude more than anything else. She certainly feels grateful that Elijah has helped her regain her self confidence. But when Leah meets Elijah by chance on the beach as he is jogging, Leah can’t deny to herself that the feelings for him aren’t sexual. Her way of coping is that even though she is there she avoids her afternoon class with him.
Nicole is already working hard to get her HSC despite the early part of the year. Aden starts to worry that her new interest in study is because she’s become bored with him and their relationship. He confides that to Miles when they both stake out the caravan park hoping to trap a vandal who has been running amok tagging graffiti on vans around the park. Miles suspects Rabbit is behind the graffiti, but refuses to give up her name as he’s worried what Alf would do to her if he found out. Nicole and Aden finally realise that they both want to attack their relationship full on and bond over that realisation.
Angelo can accept that Charlie has ended their relationship, but he’s dirty that she also wants to end their friendship. He doesn’t understand it and even admits to Martha that he still loves her. Martha is also a sounding board for Irene who is missing Annie and Geoff terribly. Irene tells her that she’s a little disappointed that Annie is going to spend her up-coming school break climbing mountains with a mate in Japan. When Annie changes her mind and informs Irene that she’s coming home instead, Irene, suspecting Martha has something to do with the mind shift, challenges Martha who denies that she emailed Annie and influenced her decision. She’s technically telling the truth and later admits to Alf that she did however send Annie a text message.
