Home And Away: 31st May > 4th June 2010 - Episode guide

Find out what happens next for the residents of Summer Bay in this week's visits to Home And Away!

Monday 31st May 2010
(Episode 5081)

Leah and Elijah bask in the glow of their happiness. Alf is very happy for them and Miles’ doubts about their hasty decision vanish when it’s clear just how right Leah and Elijah are together.

Hugo continues to hide out at the Farm House with Martha but when Martha discovers a small fire on the property, started by cigarettes, Hugo can’t help but worry that his pursuers have been lurking and that they won’t stop hunting him down. For the sake of Martha and everyone else concerned, Hugo makes the decision to take off. Martha is devastated and finally confides in Alf that Hugo is hiding out with her and Alf confronts Hugo. Alf surprises both Hugo and Martha, however, when he implores Hugo not to run - instead of taking off and worrying Martha half to death again, Hugo should find a way to deal with his issues while staying put.

While Romeo waits at home for his mother to arrive, Jill is at the Surf Club, trying to psyche herself up for the visit. She seeks John’s advice and he reluctantly agrees to stay for a drink and discuss her issues with Romeo. One drink obviously turns to several because when Jill finally does show up at the Summer Bay House, she’s plastered. Romeo is let down, yet again, and Nicole is supportive, trying to make him appreciate the fact that at least his mother does keep coming back and trying to make their relationship work. Romeo wishes his mum didn’t always come back drunk, but he’s used to forgiving her and this is no exception. However, when Jill turns up drunk at the school, Romeo is deeply affected – his mother is becoming harder and harder to forgive.

Despite their differences, John asks Tony to put in a good word for him with Gina. Tony, who disapproves of the way John treats his sister, refuses, but he does mention John’s request to Gina and can’t help but add that he seemed genuine. Although still angry that he kissed Jill, Gina agrees to meet John to talk things through. But when she arrives, and finds John with Jill again, Gina dismisses John’s genuine explanation that Jill was uninvited – she simply can’t be bothered with John and she walks away.

Tuesday 1st June 2010
(Episode 5082)

After showing up drunk at his school, Jill is escorted to the Summer Bay House by a hurt and humiliated Romeo with Miles in tow. Once she’s sobered up and he’s calmed down, Romeo tells his mother that he wants her to leave Summer Bay. Jill is apologetic but Romeo has had a gutful of her empty promises and he sticks to his guns. John clocks Romeo’s frustration and empathises with him, revealing his own history with a drunken parent. John regrets having given up on his father, who went to an early grave, and he implores Romeo not to do the same with his mother. His words hit home, particularly when Jill is genuinely sorry for her continued drunken behaviour, and Romeo asks her to stay. When she protests, feeling he’ll be better off without her, Romeo gets tough and asks her to fight for his respect.

Alf and Hugo try to solve Hugo’s problems between them, but they all hit a brick wall. It would seems there’s no way out of this mess, so Martha suggests that they sell the farm house, buy a boat and go on the run. Not only is Hugo loathe to do that to Martha but he’s reluctant to leave his loved ones vulnerable. Martha takes this on board but she also refuses to be apart from him again, so she makes it clear if Hugo doesn’t come up with a better plan, they’re doing things her way. Meanwhile, Angelo has become suspicious that Martha is hiding Hugo, and he puts his concerns to Alf. Alf stonewalls him, but his demeanour only serves to pique Angelo’s suspicions, which he voices to Charlie while they’re on a date. Charlie insists that they look into Angelo’s gut instinct and they head out to the farm house and spot a car speeding away from the house. They are unsuccessful in their chase, so they go to Martha and put their theories to her. Martha plays dumb, insisting that Hugo isn’t here and she has no clues about the car, but when Angelo and Charlie leave, it’s clear that Martha and Hugo are very concerned that Hugo’s ex associates do appear to be watching.

For their part, Charlie and Angelo put the interrupted date behind them and finish the night with a passionate kiss.

Colleen invites herself along to a dinner with Miles, Elijah, Leah and VJ, and, during their over dinner engagement conversation, it becomes clear that, not only do Elijah and Leah know very little about their respective families, but they don’t seem to know too much about each other at all. They are forced to wonder if they’ve jumped into the engagement prematurely.

Wednesday 2nd June 2010
(Episode 5083)

Charlie seeks out Ruby’s advice about spending the night with Angelo, who thinks the coupling is fantastic, Angelo gets a pep talk from Marilyn who suggest that, if he’s not sure where he stands with Charlie now, he should simply follow her lead. Unfortunately, when Angelo and Charlie do come together, the atmosphere is tense and awkward between them and Angelo fears the worst. After a talk with her counsellor, however, Charlie realises that the only thing that matters is that she and Angelo make each other happy and she announces this to him

Ruby is certain that she’s hiding her growing adoration for Liam from everyone, including Xavier. She has no idea that Xavier’s suspicions are mounting and he seeks out Liam’s take on the issue. Liam assures Xavier there is nothing going on between him and Ruby, making it clear he wouldn’t get involved with someone so young and, as Ruby’s teacher, it would be illegal for him to do so. Ruby also assures Xavier her interest in Liam is purely professional and Xavier seems to be won around. However, when he sees Ruby and Liam together, and Ruby certainly seems to be flirting, Xavier’s imagination runs wild and he angrily warns Liam to keep away from Ruby. He’s unaware that Ruby has heard every word and she’s completely horrified.

Still under the impression Marilyn and Alf are engaged, Colleen decides that she has no choice but to accept the pairing. However she makes it very clear to them that she will never acknowledge Marilyn as her sister. Alf is keen to put a stop to the silly game, but Marilyn wants to continue, just until Colleen learns her lesson about gossiping.

Thursday 3rd June 2010
(Episode 5084)

Ruby, mortified that Xavier warned Liam off her, apologises profusely to Liam. Liam isn’t impressed by Xavier’s conduct and he’s concerned the mud he slung will stick and harm his reputation, so he asks Ruby to set Xavier straight. First, Ruby needs to cool off and she seeks out Nicole, cursing Xavier. Nicole can see Xavier’s point, reminding Ruby how much time she spends with Liam and she’s not completely convinced herself that Ruby doesn’t have feelings for her music partner. Ruby insists she doesn’t, but her actions don’t seem to support this when she checks in with Liam before Xavier. Liam tells her that, until this issue is sorted out, he and Ruby can’t sing together.

Ruby springs into action and confronts Xavier, who – after trying and failing to get advice from his brother - is even more fired up than before. Meanwhile, Liam asks Nicole’s advice and confides that the reason he’s keen to make sure Ruby settles the situation, is because no-one has ever inspired him to write, or return to the recording industry, more than Ruby so it’s a partnership he doesn’t want jeopardised. During their talk, Nicole gets the wrong end of the stick and reveals that Ruby has a crush on Liam. Liam pulls right back, knows he’ll have to keep right away from her and bolts when Ruby shows up. When Xavier spots Liam later on, he angrily asks him to tell Ruby they’re through.

Miles milks Marilyn and Alf’s fake engagement for all it’s worth, and Alf’s patience is starting to wear thin. Irene gets wind of the apparent nuptials from a despairing Colleen and seeks answers from Alf, who is only too willing to set her straight, explaining that Marilyn made the whole thing up to punish Colleen for gossiping. He’s had enough so Marilyn goes to Colleen with the intention of coming clean, but when Colleen is so rude and patronising, Marilyn backtracks and declares that she and Alf aren’t engaged – they’re already married!

One of the crims who is after Hugo, Killer, watches the Farm House, armed with an assortment of weapons and pictures of Hugo, Xavier, Gina and Martha. The killer checks into the caravan park and the vibe he gives off is such that Miles is left feeling very unnerved. After his troubles with Ruby escalate, Xavier is walking along in the darkness on his own and the killer is hot on his heels. It seems that Hugo’s fears about his family’s safety may not be in vain.

Friday 4th June 2010
(Episode 5085)

It’s almost time for Hugo to leave Summer Bay and hopefully take his troubles with him, but Martha can’t bear the thought of him leaving without her. Hugo explains that he won’t sentence her to a life on the run and they spend a romantic evening together. Meanwhile, Gina becomes increasingly concerned when she can’t find Xavier and, when a thorough search of the town proves fruitless, she calls the police. Unbeknownst to Gina, Killer – the last person to see Xavier – is in earshot. As the hours wear on, Xavier’s family become increasingly concerned that Xavier has met with foul play, particularly Hugo, and they anticipate a ransom request. In order to put his mind at rest, Martha goes out searching for Xavier, leaving Hugo to consider turning himself into the police.

By now, Rachel and Tony are with Hugo and, when it dawns on them that Hugo’s arrest may do more harm than good to Xavier, they back off. They have no idea that Martha has also crossed paths with Killer. In a quiet moment on her own, Gina gives way to her grief and begins to cry for her missing son. Killer is there to offer ‘comfort’ and, alluding to the fact that he has Xavier, offers her a ride. Gina has no choice but to comply.

Leah is dismayed by her mother’s typically Greek over the top reaction to the engagement news and she’s delighted when Elijah reveals his parents are coming to visit. But Elijah is clearly anxious about the upcoming visit and Leah is forced to wonder if Elijah is worried his parents won’t approve of her. Irene thinks that’s baloney, but Leah argues that, after raising such a sublime son in Elijah, she may not meet their naturally high standards. She puts this theory to Elijah, who tries to convince Leah that she is more than good enough for him, and his problems with his parents visiting is about his full-on mother, not Leah’s adequacy. In order to prove himself, Elijah rings his mum and invites her to stay earlier than expected. There’s a sense they should batten down the hatches.
