Monday 12th July 2010
(Episode 5111)
Penn reports his wallet and iPod missing and Miles calls Charlie to add it to the list of stolen items. Colleen arrives at her mobile home and discovers the stolen goods inside. Shocked at how they got there she cryptically questions Miles about lost property in the park, saying she’s come across some spare change. Later, when Charlie arrives to question holiday makers, she stumbles upon a confused Colleen. Charlie sees the items in Colleen’s house and has no choice but to arrest her. Once down at the station, a distressed Colleen is placed in a cell where she will remain until she’s charged.
John tells Alf that the Club is in trouble. The new fitness centre in the area is killing them. John tells Alf they need to diversify and the best way to do it is to rent out the extension to another business and let that pay for a refurb of the Club. Alf is unsure, but Marilyn thinks it’s a great idea.
Meanwhile, Angelo is down in the dumps post his dismissal from the force. Charlie tells him to make a list of the other things he wanted to be when he was growing up. Later, Marilyn stumbles upon the list and is excited by what it contains. Angelo tells her it’s a pipe dream, but Marilyn’s not so sure – perhaps she has an answer to his career dilemma…
Gina struggles with Xavier’s anger over John Palmer moving in. She tells him he has to realise the world doesn’t revolve around him and learn to live with it. Later, Gina tells Xavier he must help John move his belongings in and Xavier isn’t happy. Things get off to a cold start but Xavier begins to thaw eventually.

Angelo tells Alf he wants to open a restaurant in the Surf Club extension. His parents ran an Italian restaurant and he spent a lot of time helping out when he was growing up. He always dreamed of opening his own place one day. Alf wonders whether Angelo has the cash to start up a business and he’s not sure. He needs to talk to the bank. Alf suggests he have a look at the extension plans and let him know if the space suits. If it does and he can afford it, he will put Angelo’s request to the committee. Angelo gets his loan and after a pep talk from both Marilyn and Charlie he tells Alf he wants in. The proposal goes to the committee and they accept. It’s all systems go!
Alf learns of Colleen’s caper and heads down to the station to see her. He’s outraged to learn that Colleen is being charged with theft, there’s no way she’s a thief! Colleen is downhearted and confides in Alf that maybe she did do it – how else did those things get in her home? Alf tells her someone probably set her up – has she upset anyone lately? Colleen doesn’t think so. Later, Irene arrives and Colleen is mortified that Alf told someone about her predicament – it’ll be all over town in no time. Irene reassures her that she won’t say anything. Colleen is charged and released from her cell. At work the next day, she comes in convinced that everyone is talking about her. She tells Irene she can’t cope and rushes out. She breaks down on the beach, the fear and hopelessness she feels overwhelming her.
When Ruby tells April she’s cool with the fact she and Xavier are together, April tells her they’re just friends, but April is worried what position Xavier holds on this. Later, when Xavier is still stewing over living with John, April suggests he do something to take him out of his comfort zone – that way he’ll be able to cope with more. Xavier barrels into the cold afternoon sea, and the two spend the evening talking on the beach. They talk about friendship and kissing and eventually they fall asleep (unintentionally.) When they wake the next morning they share a kiss and it seems Xavier and April are together after all. When Xavier arrives home to a cranky Gina, he apologises for staying out all night. Gina and John are bemused by the apology. It seems April’s kiss has had quite an effect on Xavier.

Sid tells Indi he heard from an unnamed source that Nicole still has feelings for him. Indi frets and Dex tells her to ask Romeo about it – if anyone would know - he would. Romeo says Nicole told him she was over Sid, besides, she’s with Penn now. Indi’s mind is put at ease but in the meantime, Sid has contacted Miles and asked to meet up with him. Miles questions Romeo, who repeats his earlier words to Indi.
When the Diner is short staffed due to Colleen’s absence, Leah is forced to pull out of a careers talk she was due to give at VJ’s school. Veej is disappointed, but Elijah suggests to Leah that he do the talk instead. Leah thinks it’s a great idea and Elijah thinks it will be good step dad practice. VJ jumps at the offer, but the moment Elijah mentions being VJ’s step dad, he goes cold. Confused by his reaction, they are at a loss as to what’s wrong until VJ opens up. He tells them he doesn’t want a step dad, he wants a dad and asks a touched Elijah if it’s okay to call him that…Dad.
Marilyn pricks her finger in a old nail and while she’s on her way to the hospital when Alf decides he better fill her in on Sid’s past (given Marilyn mentioned Miles didn’t like him much.) At the hospital, an apprehensive Marilyn is soon at ease with Sid and tells him no matter what she’s heard, she’ll make her own judgement on him. When a disgruntled ex pours coffee over Sid, Marilyn and Sid share a laugh – the tension between them well and truly broken. Marilyn gives Sid her business card and says she hopes she’ll hear from him.

Romeo sees Penn in an intimate pose with a mystery girl on the beach. He asks Nicole if she’s still seeing him, but she gives a vague answer and Romeo’s not sure where she stands with Penn. Meanwhile, Nicole’s curious at his line of questioning and later clocks some tension between Romeo and Penn. She questions Penn on it, but he charms his way out of it. At school Nicole confronts Romeo but he denies any problem. Indi clocks the tension and Romeo explains the situation. He’s at a loss as to whether to tell Nic about the girl. Indi tells him that if she was Nicole she’d want to know, but Romeo is worried that Nic will be angry at him. Romeo tells Nic, but he’s unsure if it was the right thing to do. However Nicole says she’s okay, she and Penn aren’t a couple, technically he can see other girls if he wants to. Romeo’s not convinced she’s as at ease with this as she’s making out. Later Romeo sees Penn come out of a van with another girl and confronts him. Penn puts Romeo in his place, telling him he was just talking to the backpacker about changing her story in the stolen items matter.
Leah tells a surprised Rachel that a nurse (Therese) threw coffee on Sid at the hospital the previous day. Rachel is shocked and asks Sid about the incident. He doesn’t want to make a complaint and tells Rachel the nurse was an ex of his, it wasn’t work related. Later, the nurses disobey Sid, Nurse Julie tells Rachel they refuse to work with Sid after what he did to Therese. Rachel talks to the nurses, but gets nowhere and it seems they will have to take the matter to the nurse unit manager. Until then, Rachel will help Sid with his patients, but Sid tells her he can’t continue if things are going to remain this way. When a patient begins to haemorrage, Sid barks at the nurses to help him as the emergency department swing into action.
Penn tells Alf he’s not going to give evidence in court against Colleen and he’ll convince the other theft victims to do the same. Alf is very grateful but worries it may be too late, the case is already in the system.

Sid and Rachel battle to save the life of a patient, but as she’s close to death, Sid gives her the comfort she needs to let go. The nurses see a new side to him and have nothing but respect for Sid.
Ruby and Liam are at the recording studio and Liam is apprehensive. He confides in Ruby his fear that music will lead him down a destructive path again. Ruby assures him it won’t – he’s strong and Ruby will be there to support him. The session goes well and as the duo share a hug, Ruby’s feelings for Liam bubble to the surface. She covers, but later clocks Liam flirting with a girl (Bianca) at the Surf Club – she’s shattered.
A feisty Italian girl arrives in the Bay and we learn she is April’s sister, Bianca. She’s just fled her engagement party in Milan after learning her fiancé cheated on her. Clearly the sisters are like chalk and cheese, and Bianca has a flare all her own. She flirts with Liam and locks horns with her sister but it’s all in a days work for Bianca.
When Elijah’s career talk at VJ’s school is bumped to accommodate a fireman, he decides to sit down and see what impressive career stories he can come up with. We learn a lot about the tragedies and disasters Elijah has helped out with and Leah wonders whether Summer Bay is exciting enough for him. Elijah assures her it is, but he’s given pause as he thinks on this some more – is he satisfied working in the Bay?
