Ruby is drowning her sorrows in the bottle of vodka Penn bought for her. Meanwhile, Irene is trying to get in touch with her, mindful of how Ruby is doing post her record deal rejection. Ruby’s not answering her phone and Irene is worried. Nicole stumbles upon Ruby at the Pier and is shocked to find she is drinking again. Nicole tells Ruby she won’t let her do this to herself, Nicole will help her out of it. Nicole takes Ruby to Liam’s place and he too is shocked by her drunken state, he feels guilty about the record deal and not being more supportive of Ruby after the knock back. Liam tells Ruby he has to call Charlie but she begs him not to and he agrees to give her one hour to sober up. Later, Bianca arrives and sees a drunken Ruby and Nicole coming out of the bathroom. It seems Liam has a lot of explaining to do.
Sid is outraged that Marilyn has asked him and not Mitzy to leave the house post his disagreement with her over the ‘end date’ Mitzy imposed upon Marilyn. Indi tells Marilyn that Sid is a skeptic and she’s not at all surprised that he had a closed mind regarding Mitzy’s psychic abilities. This worries Marilyn, who thought she’d been open with Sid about her spiritual beliefs. Marilyn asks Mitzy whether she’s making a mistake being with Sid – is he the right person to spend her final days with? Meanwhile, Indi has a go at Sid telling him to sort things out with Marilyn before he ruins yet another relationship. Romeo and Indi try and get Sid and Marilyn to talk, but it’s no use, neither is ready to.
Indi and Romeo are awkward in the wake of their impending first night together. Romeo gets a little psychic advice from Mitzy about whether they are doing the right thing, but her cryptic answer provides little comfort.
Bianca is agitated. She’s lost her phone and can’t find it anywhere. She pops into the Diner and an innocent comment from Colleen leads Bianca to believe that Liam has her phone. She confronts him and Liam denies it – why would he do such a juvenile thing? He imparts some painful home truths on Bianca, who is less than impressed with what she hears.

(Episode 5157)
Bianca berates Liam over having a drunken Ruby in his house. Liam explains he was only trying to help and he was going to call Charlie, but that’s not good enough for Bianca – she tells him he just can’t afford to have Ruby in his house when he knows she has feelings for him. It’s too risky, he’s a teacher at the school. Liam walks Ruby back to Charlie’s and she confesses her love for him. Liam is shocked, now realising that he is the cause of her unhappiness. Liam takes a firm stand and for Ruby’s own good tells her they can no longer have any contact whatsoever. Ruby is crushed.
Liam tells Charlie what Ruby’s been up to and why. Charlie is shocked, but Ruby breaks down and asks for help and Charlie is right there to support her. Charlie talks to Irene who shares her concern for the way Ruby has chosen to handle her problems. Charlie knows what she needs to do to help her daughter – but she’s not sure how Ruby is going to take it. The next morning Charlie prepares to take Ruby to a residential counselling facility – Ruby is scared but Charlie is by her side.
Miles gives a reluctant Romeo a pep talk before his big night with Indi. He thinks the fact they are having trouble talking about sleeping together may be a sign they aren’t ready to go through with it. Romeo appreciates Miles’ wisdom – however awkward the conversation may be. The night gets off to a slow start with Indi suggesting they watch a DVD – it’s a love story. The movie comes to an end and Romeo suggests they talk about the ramifications of what they are about to do, but Indi simply plants a kiss on him and soon any thoughts of talk are forgotten. The two break from their kiss and decide they’ll wait – sleeping together will mean more if they get to know each other first.
Having accepted a loan from Charlie (Xavier’s unwanted money from Hugo) to pay off his debts, Paulie is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, but Angelo is furious. He can’t believe Paulie is taking the cash and tells his brother to leave once he’s got his money. Paulie is keen to square things with his brother and asks if he can cook Angelo and Charlie a meal before he goes – to say sorry for all the trouble he’s caused. Angelo is reluctant but finally agrees. He begs Charlie not to give Paulie the money – it’s illegal and if she’s caught, it could ruin her. But Charlie is adamant, Angelo is what’s most important to her – not her career – she wants to do this.
Angelo presses further and Charlie decides he’s right, she can’t give Paulie the money – it’s too risky. Paulie is devastated, but Angelo tells him he’ll just have to ask the loan sharks for an extension on his next payment. Paulie does so and the response is frightening. The loan shark says he’ll burn down Angelo’s parents restaurant if he doesn’t get the payment on time. Angelo and Paulie are at a loss, but they have two weeks to come up with a plan to get the money Paulie owes.
Alf returns Bianca’s missing phone to Liam. Someone handed it in at Angelo’s and Alf asks Liam to return it to her. It rings and Liam answers the call, thinking it’s Bianca, but it’s Vittorio, Bianca’s ex - he’s coming to the Bay and he’ll be there… in two days.

Marilyn and Sid are having issues. Mitzy tells Marilyn it’ll get better before it gets worse. Marilyn is confused – one part of her says Sid is the perfect man, the other says he’s just too different. Meanwhile, Sid tells Miles that Marilyn doesn’t have cancer – just a case of the Mitzy’s – she’s not going to die. Miles is happy, but hesitant – he believes in Mitzy’s abilities and doesn’t want to get his hopes up that Marilyn will be okay. Sid is confused – he’s a man of science and Mitzy’s prediction goes against everything he believes. But Miles’ experience with Rabbit has broadened his mind to other possibilities. Miles tells Sid to be open with Marilyn about why he has such a problem with Mitzy. Sid does so and after Marilyn explains her conviction the two reconcile to live with the prediction – for now.
After Sid demanded that Dex apologise to Marilyn for his inappropriate behaviour, an opportunity arises for the apology. Sid says he will accompany Dex, but Dex insists he go it alone – if Sid comes with him the apology will feel forced and not sincere. Sid isn’t entirely sure Dex is being straight with him, but gives his son the benefit of the doubt and Dex heads over to Summer Bay House. But rather than apologise, he sets about telling Marilyn that although he may not have communicated his feelings the right way – he still has those feelings and intends to act on them. Marilyn is taken aback, but any further talk is cut short when Sid calls and asks her to come and meet him for lunch. Dex remains at the house where Mitzy tries to make him see that despite his feelings for Marilyn – she really doesn’t have any for him. Dex is defensive and Mitzy can see that she needs to take a stronger approach.
Angelo and Paulie are still at a loss as to how to come up with Paulie’s debt money. Paulie suggests selling their parent’s restaurant but Angelo won’t hear of it. Later, Paulie comes up with a plan – they’ll go to the races – Paulie has a fool proof system to win – why didn’t he think of this earlier!

He’ll look at the plan, but there will have to be a lot of research into whether it is in fact viable. Meanwhile, April is subdued and Xavier is confused. He thought she’d be ecstatic after John’s positive reaction to her idea.
April confesses that the bus plan wasn’t actually passed by the Swedish government and to her knowledge hasn’t actually been implemented – anywhere…she lied. Xavier can’t believe it – why would she do such a thing? April explains that it doesn’t matter it hasn’t been passed - she’s sure the project will work – it’s a great idea and if John runs with it, she’s sure it will all work out and benefit the environment.
