How would you describe the character of Lynsey?

“Lyns is sweet natured and very trusting. She always likes to see the best in people, but if she’s pushed into a corner she can hold her own. She'd be the type of person you could trust with your secrets.”

What’s her relationship with best friend Cheryl like?

“Cheryl and Lyns have been best friends their whole lives. To Lynsey, Cheryl is someone who has always protected her and stood up for her, but Lynsey now wants to stand on her own two feet.“

Lynsey first appeared back in 2008’s Hollyoaks Later series - did you ever expect to return as the character?

“No, I never expected the call to come back. I'm thrilled of course and was delighted to return, especially at this time when the show is taking a new direction. It's very exciting and there is a real buzz at work.”

What brings Lynsey to the village?

“Cheryl needs her best friend with her to celebrate her windfall on the lottery and her new venture in Chez Chez, so Lynsey ups sticks to join Cheryl in her new found success.”

We’ve been told Lynsey finds herself the love interest of a much-loved resident - is this going to be a perfect love story or are there complications?

“(laughing) It’s always complicated in soap land! Yes, Lynsey falls in love quite quickly when she arrives in the village. It’s an unexpected romance and it causes a bit of a stir. Unfortunately, I can’t give any clues as to who it might be, but I have watched the scenes back which was fun.”

What’s it like working with Bronagh Waugh, who plays Cheryl?

“Bronagh and I are friends from back home in Belfast. We knew each other even before we were cast in the Hollyoaks Later episode in 2008. She is always good fun to be on set with. I think she’s a fab actress. As a person, yes she’s outgoing and funny, but she’s very caring and generous. She helped me get a flat and settle in when I arrived back.”

Were you excited about your first scenes airing? What sort of reaction are you expecting from viewers?

“Yes, I find it hard to watch myself on screen but I’m excited. I hope the viewers warm to the character and enjoy watching what she gets up to.”

Are you enjoying Liverpool life? Do you miss Northern Ireland?

“Yes, Liverpool is very like Belfast. The people are very witty and friendly and like in Belfast you can find out everything you need to know from a taxi driver. I am homesick, but I’ve had loads of family and friends staying with me, so I’ve been showing them the night life of Liverpool which is amazing.”

What was it like working with artist Steve McQueen on the film
Hunger?

“He’s inspirational. I think he’s a phenomenal director. I was so proud to be involved with that film. He made everyone involved realise the importance and fragility of the story.”

Apart from acting, what are your other hobbies and interests?

“I enjoy going to the movies. I’ve just seen Inception which was brilliant. I also enjoy more laid back activities like reading and going to the theatre and cycling.”

Last film you saw at the cinema:

“The last film I saw was The A Team. I’m old enough to remember the original TV series, so I was expecting a lot, but I thought it was great - perfectly cast and really funny. Liam Neeson was sooooo good as Hannibal.”

Last DVD you bought:

“I bought was The Goonies for my niece. I love that film - I’m big into nostalgia.”

Last album you bought:

“The last single I downloaded was 'Aphrodite' by Kylie Minogue, and the last album was a long time ago... probably Beyonce’s 'I Am...Sasha Fierce'.”
