Does Chas still love Carl?
“I think she’ll always love him but she really hates him right now. The revenge helps a bit - but not that much.”
Is it hard for Chas to be with Carl?
“The thought that Carl’s been unfaithful makes her feel sick. Coming up with excuses not to be with him isn’t easy, though. She makes out that she’s feeling ill or is too drunk on occasions. At times, though, she does find him hard to resist. The chemistry between them has always been strong.”
Is Chas behind Eve losing Carl’s money?
“Absolutely - she nicks it and the cash that Eve got out with it. Chas is there when Eve’s forced to admit to that the money and card have gone missing. Carl’s anger and Eve’s embarrassment gives Chas a certain satisfaction!”
Does she no longer believe anything Carl says?
“Not a word. When he tells her he’s going to a business meeting, she knows he’s really meeting Eve. She scuppers that by anonymously calling the police because he’s had a drink and he’s driving. She also lets his tyres down. She does things she knows will annoy him. She’s furious when he blames Aaron for the tyres and almost blows it but Charity persuades her that she must keep calm.“
How come Chas proposes marriage to Carl?
“It’s Charity’s idea. Charity encourages Chas to up the game to another level. Once she’s married to Carl, she’ll be able to take him for half of everything.”
Has Chas considered marriage to Carl before?
“I think in an ideal world she’d love to have been married to Carl but there have always been too many issues in their relationship. Chas isn’t sure he’s going to accept but he does and seeing Eve’s face gives her grim satisfaction.”
Does she wish circumstances were different?
“I think in a way she Chas can’t help wishing it was all for real. I mean - there she is surrounded by her friends, family and neighbours who are just delighted for her.”
How difficult is it for her to keep up the façade the next morning?
“She falters a bit but manages to hold it together. She suggests to Carl that they have a Christmas wedding but he throws her when he says he wants to plan it for spring or summer wedding.”
Is it Carl’s money or his humiliation Chas really wants?
“Carl and Eve getting their come-uppance is of tantamount importance to Chas. She does wants some security - although it’s really Charity who’s got the big pound signs in her eyes.”
