Did you enjoy your stint filming Doctors and would you like to return to the show in the future?
“I have appeared in Doctors before - I was a pot smoking granny (purely medicinal) and I played a bad tempered heart attack victim, so this is my third part. I guess I could come back again as anything you care to mention. But I wouldn't mind doing Aunt Agatha again she was fun.
"She turns up on your doorstep with one thing in mind, having a bit of fun at your expense. Like all good characters she is not what she first appears to be. People who are just nasty or always sunny tend to be boring, and she isn't.”
Are there any plans for you to return to EastEnders as Linda Clarke (Christian and Jane's mum) at some point and would you ever consider a permanent role on the show?
“I don't know if I will be able to do another stint in EastEnders for quite a while - there aren't enough hours in the day, or weeks in the year. I did have nice time on EastEnders and I think there is a lot of mileage in that family yet. It might be fun to see Linda riding on the "pink tank" with Christian on Gay Pride day!
"The more I think of it the more it seems a good idea, but I couldn't spend the rest of my life in one show. If I'd been in EastEnders, I wouldn't have been able to play Ena Sharples as I did recently in The Road To Coronation Street, and I wouldn't have missed that for the world.”
What are you working on at present?
“I am writing this in my dressing room at the Garrick Theatre and I am just about to go on stage in When We Are Married. It seems the play is a smash hit! It couldn't fail with the cast it has (Google us) - it is a pleasure to work with the cream de la cream. It seems the cleverer people are at their job the easier the work is. Not to mention the backstage laughter all those funny people.”
