James Sorensen (Neighbours' Declan Napier) Interview
James plays Declan Napier, the son of Rebecca Napier and younger brother of Oliver Barnes. “He’s a bit of a tearaway and keeps committing petty crimes”, says James.
“He and his mum have always been on the run from his violent dad, and have never really had much money. In a way I can see why he does it.”
As a child, James wanted to be a professional tennis player before he took up acting.
“I was beating my dad at tennis when I was only eight”, he recalls. “Then I wanted to take up soccer and started playing for the state of Victoria.”
He was 14 when he realised that his ultimate ambition was to act.
“I thought it would be great to enact stuff that I would never dare carry out in reality”, he says.
James was 20 years old when he played a violent psychopath in a film called Physical Graffiti. He also appeared in the film, Hating Alison Ashley, alongside Delta Goodrem, and played Mike in the second series of the surfing TV show, Blue Water High.
Neighbours makes its debut on Five on Monday 11th February 2008 in its traditional slots of 1.45pm and 5.30pm every weekday.
