News reaches home that Lucas has been in an accident. Libby, Steph, Karl and Toadie race to his bedside to learn that he has suffered spinal injuries. It’s a tense wait to find out how serious they might be. The authorities reveal he was speeding and running from the police when he crashed. Libby and Toadie are dismayed by Lucas’ recklessness but Steph feels responsible and leaves the hospital, unable to handle her guilt. When Lucas wakes up and asks for Steph, Libby tries to get her back to the hospital, but Steph refuses. It’s only when Lyn takes Steph to church that Steph feels ready to face Lucas. But has she left it too late?
Andrew makes himself at home in Erinsborough – much to Donna’s chagrin. She is terrified that he’ll spill their guilty secret, but Andrew maintains he’s only here to get acquainted with Paul and has no intention of staying long term. However, when Andrew makes a point of befriending Ringo, Donna’s fears resurface. Can Andrew be trusted?

Andrew reveals the real reason for his visit to Ramsay Street: he short-changed some security staff at the Schoolies dance party and they’ve come to collect their money. Unfortunately, manipulating Paul into bailing him out isn’t as easy as he’d hoped and things slip even further out of Andrew’s control when the thugs demand interest on their late wages. Paul’s forced to step in to rescue his son a second time and agrees to pay the extra money. Grateful Andrew thanks his dad and agrees to work his debt off by taking a job in the Robinson business empire. However, Rebecca finds Andrew packing his bags and preparing to sneak off into the night…
Dr. Newton manages to get Lucas’ seizures under control. She confirms he’ll make a full recovery given time and extensive rehabilitation. However, Lucas resents being dependent on anyone and refuses to accept help from any of his friends. Only Steph, determined to atone for her guilt from sleeping with Dan, stands a chance of getting through to him.
Toadie’s mortified when Karl and Susan kill time by sharing embarrassing stories from his past. However, Sonya is far from put off by the tales. Could this finally be the start of something serious for them?

Awkwardness continues between Declan and Kate after his failed attempt to ask her out. Rebecca learns Donna is responsible for coming between them and encourages her not to be selfish. When guilty Donna reveals it was all her fault, Declan and Kate finally take the plunge and set up a date. With nerves kicking in on both sides, they find strength in their friends’ support – but will Declan’s memory of Bridget bring it all undone?
Andrew stays in Erinsborough but vows to make Rebecca regret she gave him an ultimatum. He sticks to his word and Rebecca struggles to keep her cool when Andrew befriends Lyn. Frustrated by his attitude, Rebecca decides to stop pushing Andrew to seek a good relationship with Paul and tells him to make up his own mind.

Toadie suspects Libby’s efforts to support Ben in the wake of Dan’s departure are only compounding his sadness. With Zeke and Susan’s help, he concocts a plan to give both Ben and Libby the space they need to grieve separately. They take Ben to sit in at Pirate.Net and the plan seems to be working as he cheers up. But when Zeke offers Ben the microphone and the chance to speak to all their listeners, Ben pleads for Dan to come home.
Declan follows Kate to apologise for messing up their date before it even began. He convinces her to try again and they arrange to have a casual lunch the next day. As Declan gets ready, he tries to remove his wedding band to commit to moving forward with Kate, but finds he can’t. Is their romance over before it even began?
Now official guardian of the Ramsays, Lou installs a new policy of fun and games before chores. Kate’s not impressed but Lou stands firm, insisting they’ve had enough hardship in their lives and need to learn to enjoy themselves. Can Kate relax and allow herself to be parented for a change?

Steph tries to enthuse Lucas about his rehab but, frustrated by his dependence on others, Lucas plays up. Steph challenges him to stop being a self-pitying jerk. Though wondering why she’s making the effort, Lucas opens up about his fear, and improves his attitude. Deeply grateful to Steph, he’s taken aback when Libby suggests Steph’s sacrifice stems from love. Lucas is initially surprised but tells Steph he loves her too. However, Steph’s guilt at betraying Libby with Dan, and precipitating events that led to Lucas’ accident, are major obstacles. Can Steph deal with them?
Keen for his Dad to be happy in love, Callum’s on-board with Sonya’s ‘sleep-over’. But when Sonya arrives, Callum’s eagerness to make sure all goes well sees him overdoing the Cupid role. Toadie apologises for making Sonya uncomfortable, but Sonya’s made of sterner stuff, and the night – and morning-after – go exceptionally well. Susan finds a potential way to help Lyn get over Paul, and regain her self-esteem - Singles’ Cocktail Classes.
