Cool Guide: London - Book review

Although ostensively aimed at introducing the tourist market to some of the trendiest spots the capital has to offer, this snazzy little book is also a great source of information on the kind of places someone already familiar with the city might not normally think to visit, as well as a reminder of quite how lovely some of the more well known locations are.

The guide is divided into Restaurants & Cafes, Clubs, Lounges & Bars, Shops, and Highlights, which mainly includes galleries, museums and parks. There’s also a map of central London, showing you how to find your way from one hip place to the next, and, most importantly of all in these recessionary times, a price guide, which will save the hapless among us from stumbling unawares into some of the more pricy places featured.

There is some short text and a scattering of tips for places to go from fashion photographer Russell James (most famous for his work for Victoria’s Secret) and the model Lydia Hurst, but Cool Guide London is mainly intended to be a visual guide to city, and is absolutely packed with colourful and beautifully shot images, which give a real sense of the places shown.
