Girls Aloud guest on Facebook fashion application
StyleSlam, a new fashion application on Facebook, features Girls Aloud as special Guest Style Advisors this week - to celebrate the release of their new single ‘Can’t Speak French’.
To play StyleSlam – you create your own avatar and then buy, sell and wear items that you can buy within the StyleSlam marketplace (similar to eBay but you use Style Slam dollars). It’s a new fashion application for Facebook created by Ebay, letting you playfully combine different items to find a look that works for you, interact with other fashion fans as you go.
To celebrate the release of new single ‘Can’t Speak French’ this week, Girls Aloud appear as avatars based on the amazing outfits from the ‘Can’t Speak French’ video. Each day (Mon-Fri) one of the Girls will provide style tips for what items are hot to buy within the game and there will also be a profile page for each girl with their own personal style tips. You can also try the actual outfits from the video onto your own avatar and decide which ones suits you best!

eBay UK and London-based digital innovators Harmonypark have created StyleSlam, a new Facebook application to engage Facebook users around the world with the eBay brand.
StyleSlam is an application that combines fashion, gaming and competition. Harnessing the social interaction that sits at the heart of Facebook, StyleSlam brings to life the fun of trading and securing a bargain on eBay. StyleSlam engages users by embedding into their Facebook profiles, and tying into their daytime-playtime and their social interactions and experience.
Harmonypark’s Andrew McPhee says: “The StyleSlam application already has more than 30,000 active users, and allows people to create an avatar, buy, sell and wear items from a marketplace and interact with their friends. StyleSlam also lets you click through on a virtual item and buy the real thing on eBay.”
Cian Weeresinghe from eBay comments: “Fashion is an incredibly popular category on eBay. A piece of women’s clothing sells every 5 seconds on the site. The Styleslam application combines a passion for fashion with the thrill of bagging a bargain, as you move seamlessly from dressing your avatar in the latest trends, to clicking through to eBay to buy the items for real.”
London agency Albion worked on the in-game characters and clothing, and Toronto’s Radiant Core created the in-game icons.
