Land Girls to return for Series 2

Land Girls, BBC One Daytime's award-winning drama, is to return for a second series.

What's it about?

The second series of Land Girls returns to the rural Forties, and continues to examine how a whole generation of women helped the war effort, and adapted to their new lives working as part of the Women's Land Army.

Speaking about the new series, Controller of BBC Daytime Liam Keelan says: "The first series of Land Girls was something completely new for BBC One Daytime, as it was the first time a period drama had been commissioned and made for the daytime audience. It proved to be such a success with our viewers that I'm delighted to be able to announce the commission of a second series."

How many episodes is it back for?

Liam Keelan has commissioned five new episodes.

What's coming up?

Executive producer Will Trotter says: "It's too early to be able to reveal which of our characters we'll be meeting up with again, but viewers can be assured that we'll see some old faces and meet some new ones. Land Girls will continue to follow the lives and loves of the women as they work the fields and forge friendships that will last a lifetime, in an experience that will change them forever."

When will the new series air?

Filming on Land Girls begins later this year and is due to transmit in winter 2010/2011.
