Heroes returns to BBC Two in late April

The new series of epic American drama Heroes, chronicling the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary powers, begins on BBC Two on Thursday 24th April at 9pm. In the first episode of the second series, the extraordinary individuals are striving to be ordinary four months after the explosive events in New York at the end of series one.

While the various characters are forced to find a new direction, the company seeks to control the new stage in evolution. Deadly new threats loom as fresh characters with abilities emerge worldwide and the previous generation of Heroes is being murdered.

The fates of Peter, Nathan and Matt are revealed, following the horrible showdown with Sylar and Peter's uncontrolled nuclear detonation miles above New York City. As everyone attempts to move on, a new, sinister force begins stalking and murdering Heroes. With the family hiding in Southern California, HRG and Claire attempt to live as inconspicuously as possible – which proves to be easier said than done.

Meanwhile, after landing in feudal Japan, Hiro meets his hero, Takezo Kensei.

New Heroes, Maya and her twin, Alejandro, are introduced; Maya has the ability to cry a deadly disease, while her brother is the cure. They attempt to make a dangerous trip to America in search of help. Monica, another young woman with new-found special abilities, would give up everything to help the people around her. Their ultimate destiny is nothing less than saving the world...

Heroes stars Milo Ventimiglia as Peter Petrelli, Adrian Pasdar as Nathan Petrelli, Greg Grunberg as Matt Parkman, Jack Coleman as HRG Mr Bennet, Hayden Panettiere as Claire Bennet, Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura, Dania Ramirez as Maya, Shalim Ortiz as Alejandro and Dana Davis as Monica.

The cast also includes Sendhil Ramamurthy as Mohinder Suresh, Noah Gray-Cabey as Micah Sanders, Ali Larter as Niki Sanders, Santiago Cabrera as Isaac Mendez, Nora Zehetner as Eden McCain and James Kyson Lee as Ando Masahashi.
