Return To Treasure Island TV series on DVD

Shiver me timbers! Network is releasing the sequel to the Robert Louis Stevenson classic on DVD. Return To Treasure Island, starring the legendary Brian Blessed (Flash Gordon) as Long John Silver and Christopher Guard (Lord of the Rings) as ex-cabin boy Jim Hawkins, will be available to buy on DVD for the first time in a three-disc set for forty pieces of eight (£19.99).

Gregarious pirate Long John Silver and ex-cabin boy Jim Hawkins - now having graduated from Oxford University - are caught up in the quest for even more hidden gems still buried on the infamous Treasure Island...Originally broadcast in 1986, Return to Treasure Island is directed by the BAFTA-winning Piers Haggard (Pennies from Heaven) and written by John Goldsmith (Return of the Saint). The Map Part One


Long John's escapade to steal the map leads to capture and the sentence of death, in spite of Jim's pleas for clemency. Long John himself contrives to have his sentence commuted to service in the colonies and he is transported on the same vessel that is to carry Jim Hawkins and his trusted servant Ben Gunn to Jamaica.

The Map Part Two


Long John Silver, a "passenger" in the prisoner's hold of The Saracen, bound from Bristol to Jamaica, leads a mutiny of prisoners and disgruntled sailors. However, his plans are partly thwarted by Jim Hawkins and Ben Gunn, aided by another passenger, a Dutch adventurer Van der Brecken.

Island of the Damned


After many days at sea in a small boat, Jim and friends arrive at the Dutch Island of Santa Anna, where Van der Brecken has friends who will help them. This early optimism is soon destroyed when they discover that the Spanish have overrun the Island...

Arriving in Jamaica, Long John persuades Jim and his friends to set him ashore at a secluded cove before making their own way to Kingston, the capital.

Manhunt


Jim's conversation with Long John regarding Caleb Lewis is overheard by Saul Sharpe, who informs Hallows of the situation. When Jim goes to confront Caleb he walks into a trap!

The Crow's Nest

Long John persuades Van der Brecken to make a small diversion in order that he may disembark on Machado Island, a pirate stronghold from where he is certain he can launch an expedition to Treasure Island.

Fugitives

Van der Brecken, Jim, Abed and Conchita arrive in Mexico to find the land in the grip of gold fever. Garcia, the local Superintendent of the Mines, is arresting every man his soldiers can lay their hands on to work in the gold mines and in the quarries.

In Chains


The Spanish noblewoman, Isabella, whom Jim met during his voyage to Jamaica, is now living in Mexico with her uncle, Pachero, the Governor of the region where Jim and his friends now find themselves prisoners of the mine Superintendent Garcia.

Treasure Island: Part One


Jim has been tried by a "Kangaroo" court and sentenced to hang the following day. Long John, however, has other plans. His job as assistant cook has given him access to the local market, and there he has purchased a local leaf, which, if used in food, causes the eater to fall into a deep sleep.

Treasure Island: Part Two


Jim, Long John, Van der Brecken, Isabella, Abed and Boakes arrive at Treasure Island, only to discover that Hallows has arrived before them and has already established himself in the Stockade. Events move quickly...
