Norman Wisdom: Trouble On Tour

A true comedy legend, knockabout comedian Norman Wisdom often portrayed the down-trodden and bullied little man who would overcome the odds and save the day on his many movie offerings from the 1950s and 1960s.

Here on DVD we catch up with Norman during a 1990s tour of the UK. Although touching his 80s at the time, the man can still entertain a crowd with ease and goes through many of his favourite routines to the adoration of his fans. Renowned for making himself laugh the funnyman often cracks up before he can get the joke out, his infectious energy perhaps making him all the more accessible to the many age groups in attendance.

Norman was the master of self-depreciation comedy and, as unlikely as it sounds, became a huge film star in Albania, where his simple style and non-aggressive movies were the only films allowed to be shown and assured him an iconic status there. This stage show is a must for Wisdom’s fans, showcasing a musical and physical comedy side to the cloth-cap-wearing character and, considering the fact that the 92 year old has finally retired, is perhaps the final opportunity to see him happy at what he was born to do.
