Enemy At The Door: Series Two

The Germans are still maintaining a firm hold of the Channel Islands in this second series of the popular and dramatic look at the people of Guernsey during the Wartime occupation of the island.

This is darker in tone than the previous series and as such offers a starker look at the lives of the islanders. We find the main characters still struggling to live some form of normal life when faced with daily constant hurdles, be they the deportation of non-island born residents, the removal of all radios, prisoners being returned, clashes with the occupiers, pregnancies, SS officers causing havoc and the ever-present knowledge that a war is being waged that could seal their fate and they are powerless to assist.

There are some great episodes in this second series and, like the first, this is a must for anyone with an interest in this period of history. A remarkable achievement in drama, Enemy At The Door is a nicely finished and very realistic piece of television history.

Extras: None.
