The Inbetweeners - Episode guide
The Inbetweeners is a six-part series about four teenagers growing up in suburbia and is the first ever original UK sitcom commission for E4. It’s a world of futile crushes, sibling brawls, getting drunk too quickly, fancying the girl next door, casting aspersions on your friend’s sexuality and riding rollercoasters.
EPISODE 1
It’s a fresh start for Will McKenzie as he joins his new sixth form college. Will previously went to a private school, but since his dad walked out on his mum he’s had to downgrade to the local comprehensive. And if life wasn’t already tough enough, Will quickly makes enemies of his psychotic head of sixth and the school nut case. In a vain effort to fit in, Will soon attaches himself to a fairly average group – Simon, Jay and Neil – and tags along with them as they attempt to get served at a pub for the first time ever.
EPISODE 2
Will, Simon, Jay and Neil bunk off from the sixth form. Part one of the master plan has Simon call the school and pretend to be his own mother. Unfortunately his call gets passed on to the head of sixth, Mr Gilbert, who instantly rumbles him. Undeterred the boys attempt to buy alcohol from the local wine merchant, with Will disguised as an adult. They head to Neil’s house to get drunk, where Simon has a vodka-induced romantic revelation about his childhood sweetheart Carli. After Neil’s dad arrives home unexpectedly and kicks them all out, Simon decides to declare his true feelings for Carli in graffiti form for all the world to see. Somehow this works and Carli invites him over to her house. When he turns up with Will in tow, the effects of his all-day drinking begin to show on Simon. After disgracing themselves at Carli’s, Will and Simon trudge home to face the wrath of their furious parents.
EPISODE 3
Simon is about to sit his first driving test, and Will, Jay and Neil are very excited by the new possibilities that having a car will bring. As soon as Simon has passed they plan to visit Thorpe Park to ride roller coasters and chase girls. There is one problem though – Simon is a rubbish driver. Miraculously he does pass his test and the boys set off on their first road trip in Simon’s new car. Their journey is hampered by being unexpectedly held up in a funeral cortege but they eventually arrive in one piece. Disaster strikes when Simon rips off his new car’s door while parking. Will is determined not to let this ruin their trip and convinces him to at least ride the roller coasters before leaving to get it fixed. Once inside the pleasure park, Will soon wishes they had never come as he totally disgraces himself on the roller coaster.
Catch The Inbetweeners at 10pm on Thursdays, only on E4. Series 1 is released on DVD on 2nd June 2008 and includes unseen extras such as audio commentaries, video diaries from the cast and deleted scenes.
