Bionic Woman coming to DVD
Bionic Woman, the stunning re-imagining of the classic 70’s show starring Michelle Ryan (EastEnders), is released on DVD on 12th May 2008 by Universal-Playback.
Jaime Sommers’ (Michelle Ryan) life is turned upside down when she is hit by a car and seriously injured. Her only hope is a top secret procedure in which she receives experimental medical enhancements. As Jaime soon discovers, her salvation has come at a high price, changing her life and body forever.
The cutting edge surgery, performed by her boyfriend, gives her advanced bionic prosthetics and implants with extraordinary new strength, among other artificially enhanced gifts. Now, however, Jaime must figure out how best to use her new abilities while embracing her new bionic identity.
As she adjusts to her new bionic powers Jaime agrees to work for the Berkut Group, a quasi-governmental private organization that performed her surgery. She also has to grapple with her nemesis Sarah Corvus (Katee Sackhoff – Battlestar Galactica) the first Bionic Woman, as well as raising a rebellious younger sister Becca (Lucy Kate Hale – The O.C.).
Including episodes ‘The Education of Jaime Sommers’ when Michelle Ryan goes back to her roots when she disguises herself as a British student and falls for a suspect, as well as ‘Do Not Disturb’ when Jaime and Becca’s holiday goes awry as Jaime is pulled into a deadly game. Throughout the season, Jaime and the Bionic team travel from Paraguay to Paris and back again whilst encountering assassins, deadly plots and mysterious individuals.
This season premiere received the highest midweek ratings on the US network NBC for almost a decade and it’s recent airing on ITV2 ranked it as their biggest ever show.
With fans such as Will Smith and Brooklyn Beckham, Bionic Woman has received cult status already and it’s fan base is ever-increasing.
