Peak Practice: The Complete Fourth Series
Peak Practice was well in its stride by this fourth series. Kevin Whately had moved on and the ever capable Simon Sheppard was left as the main lead in what was one of ITV’s biggest ratings winners of the late 1990s.
In this series we find the practice under pressure from the nearby health centre, which has taken potential staff, current patients and NHS support from The Beeches. This is nicely presented, realistic and touching storytelling at its best. You get a feel for the characters, understand their plight and find yourself immersed in the programming without too much effort at all.
Told in a way that you see both sides (patient and doctor), the ten episodes here have barely dated and stand up to repeated viewing with ease. A must-have for fans, but also a nice introduction to the series for newcomers too. It's not hard to see why this was such a popular series and why it went on to run for almost a decade.
Extras: None.
