Kenzie (CelebAir) Interview

Starting on Tuesday 2nd September 2008, ITV2 will be taking to the skies with the brand new show, CelebAir; with a real plane, flying to real places, staffed by real celebrities!

In this new eight-part series, 11 celebrities will take on a range of jobs on the ground and in the air to battle it out ultimately to become CelebAir’s star employee and win thousands of pounds for the charity of their choice.

In 2002 Kenzie and 9 other 16-year-olds, made up of 9 MCs and a DJ, released their debut single, Crossroads. Within a week Blazin’ Squad had scored their first number one single. Blazin’ Squad began as two crews, Incredible Crew and Blazin’ Squad, and a star (or several) was born when they joined forces in early 2000. In January 2005, Kenzie came second in Celebrity Big Brother. He also had an autobiography published. Kenzie was a contestant in Sky 1’s Cirque De Celebrite in October 2006.

Favourite holiday destination?

That would be Ibiza with the boys and the Caribbean with a girl!

Any holiday disasters?

We were flying from Belfast to London and the plane missed the runway. It had to go back and missed it again and was running out of petrol. It was all a bit full on. I managed to stay quite calm, bit I think that was because I didn’t realise the full extent of the problem until I’d got off. So I’ve been in awkward situations on planes and managed to stay calm. I’m not a bad flyer, I’m usually hungover on a plane. CelebAir will be a bit different!

My three travel essentials?

Records, chewing gum and wallet.

If I could serve any famous passenger?

Cheryl Cole!

Am I a Speedos or shorts guy?

Speedos!

My favourite holiday anthem?

The Robin S song, Show Me Love.

How am I feeling about taking part in CelebAir?

I’m really looking forward to it, it should be fun. It’s a good challenge and a good bit of discipline, which is just what I need. And because of the training, if the career doesn’t go well in the future I can take over an airline!

Am I excited or nervous?

I’m excited about travelling to all the different places and getting to see a bit more of the world. I’m quite nervous about the flying because it’s a nerve wracking thing anyway regardless of whether you’re working or not. We’ll be under a lot of pressure. But it should be fun... I’m looking forward to it.

How will I deal with awkward people?

It’s just about patience and remembering the customer’s always right... and not saying what you feel!

How am I finding the training?

The training is unbelievably intense. One thing I will say is that I take my hat off to anyone who does this job in real life, because I didn’t appreciate how hard they work and how much effort they put in.
