Doctor On The Go: The Complete First Series
Following directly from their previous nautical exploits in Doctor At Sea, we catch up with Doctors Waring and Stuart-Clark, as they return to their old stomping ground of St Swithin’s Hospital.
Wangling their old jobs back from their old mentor Professor Sir Geoffrey Loftus (Ernest Clark), the duo once more find themselves in the centre of a number of mix-ups, situations and confusion, that all lead to some (still) hilarious situations. After a break from the hospital setting to create new storylines, a return seems unusual, but luckily with the addition of some new quirky characters this series works very well indeed. More slapstick than previous outings, the 13 episodes on offer here are well worth shelling out for if you fancy a dose of well-written mid-1970s medical humour.
Leads Robin Nedwell and Geoffrey Davies are so familiar with their characters that they seem to be an extension of themselves and deliver their lines with such ease that you cannot help but enjoy even a poor episode. There perhaps lies the success of these series! Fans will love this release and newcomers will find some joy there too.
