Kylie Minogue: 'All The Lovers'
On paper, 'All The Lovers' is classic Kylie, but there’s something missing.
Working with Stuart Price, Madonna’s 'Confessions...' guru, one would expect punchy modern disco with hooks to die for. As it stands, whilst Madonna gave Price’s beats a sense of purpose and superiority, Kylie politely lets the track do the work.
Its daydream synths and placid beats are hard to get excited about, and Kylie’s sultry vocals are oddly hollow. The whole performance seems uninterested and unengaging, when it should be effortless and euphoric. A pretty melody is not enough to save this disappointing lead single from mediocrity.
